How do you feel that Pope John Paul II could be proclaimed as a saint?
What is your opinion on this one? He’s the only Pope that I felt an aura of holiness in him when he was alive and I don’t know why I cried when he died and felt so much love for him even though haven’t known and met him personally.

festina: you have to understand the doctrine of the catholic church. being a saint is a friend of Jesus who followed His humble ways here on earth. if you have a friend, won’t you love that friend? same thing with saints. they’re here to as a model of God’s love for everyone.

Loosely put, a saint is someone who enters the gates of heaven. Therefore, sainthood should be everyone’s concern. However, the Catholic Church have canonized certain saints to show that their lives are worthy emulating. To be canonized as a saint is like passing through the eye of a needle, there lives are thoroughly reviewed, deliberated and documented. That is why in the past it took years if not centuries for one to be canonized as a saint.
With the advent of new information technology, however, and without sacrificing the integrity of the cause for canonization, nowadays the process has somehow been hastened. Maybe it’s a little known fact that Pope John Paul II during his time has canonized more saints than in all the terms of all previous popes combined.
So to have him canonized in this lifetime may not be that far-fetched. Actually, there are two people who was good candidates for that, John Paul II and Mother Teresa.
For those of us who believe, however, we are almost quite sure having known the man that he now sits in heaven. Just as probably, we would believe if their is a father or mother who sacrificed a lot for us, we’re almost sure that when they die they go to heaven.
The earthly recognition of being a canonized saint matters less than that. In fact, I don’t Pope John Paul II would mind if take years or never even if his cause for canonization does not progress. He’s just happy he has done his job here on earth well. That’s what matters and that is what truly makes him a saint.
