The goal of all beginner guitarists is to be able to play cool songs. Thankfully, beginners can choose from hundreds of easy guitar songs to learn, the songs you choose just depends on what type of music you like and what you would enjoy playing. Here are a couple of popular, yet easy guitar songs you can learn quickly, with minimal effort.
1. Sunshine of Your Love – Eric Clapton
Most people won’t know the name of this song when you mention it during a conversation, but they instantly recognize the signature riff played by Eric Clapton, and soon, by yourself! It’s based on the minor pentatonic scale and a couple of power chords, which makes it a very easy song to learn on your guitar.
2. Sweet Home Alabama – Lynyrd Skynyrd
This hit song by Lynyrd Skynyrd is a world known classic. Many musicians cover the song even today, for example, Kid Rock used it recently in one of his new songs. The piece itself is pretty easy to learn, and is loads of fun to play to others, since everyone will instantly recognize the signature riff. You’ll be practicing hammer-ons and pulls-offs, which means that learning this easy guitar song will give you a chance to improve your technique as well.
3. Crazy Train – Ozzy Osbourne
Crazy Train is a great heavy metal song by the prince of darkness, which is pretty easy to learn even if you’re a beginner. The intro is comprised of a few power chords, so you should have no problems with it at all. The lead guitar signature riffs they play during the song can be a bit more challenging at first, but they won’t take long to learn either. If you like listening to heavy metal, Crazy Train is definitely a song you’ll want to check out.
4. Smells Like Teen Spirit – Nirvana
The most popular song by Nirvana is probably one of the easiest to learn as well. While learning this classic from the early ’90s, you’ll want to split the song into several section. First you’ll learn the popular intro, which is nothing more than a sequence of 4 power chords, making it easy to learn for beginners as well. Than you’ll want to learn the popular solo section as well, which just like the intro, is very easy to play. It involves a few string bends, but nothing overly complicated.
